SWOP’s anti-violence team, Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P) is known for having boots on the ground in the community, creating safe environments for all residents and providing opportunities for fun community engagement and dialogue centered around safety. CP4P staff form relationships with influential leaders in the community, build a network of trust, and look for ways to create agreements that put the safety of the community and its people first.
On September 17th, CP4P hosted a Light in the Night celebration of Hispanic heritage for community members. The event had many different activities such as face painting, bouncy houses for kids, free food and an amazing live musical performance by Alta Sociedad. During this block party style event, dozens of individuals came out and indulged in the sense of community that was created in their own front yards; taking to the streets to dance, sing, eat and take pride in Hispanic heritage.
