Celebrating Three Years of Partnership: CP4P Light In The Night Events

For the past three years, the Southwest Organizing Project’s (SWOP) Community Violence Intervention team, Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P), has collaborated with St. Clare of Montefalco to bring meaningful, community-driven events to the neighborhood. From Open Gyms held every Tuesday and Saturday to Youth Fairs and Community Art Contests, this partnership has created safe, engaging spaces where residents can come together and thrive.

To commemorate this milestone on March 15th, 2025, CP4P hosted a special Light in the Night event—a vibrant evening filled with activities that celebrated the community’s resilience, strength, and commitment to peace. The event featured a thrilling 3-on-3 basketball tournament, where young athletes showcased their skills and teamwork; all in the spirit of friendly competition. Attendees enjoyed free food, music, and an atmosphere that encouraged connection and camaraderie.

Beyond the entertainment, Light in the Night served as a vital resource hub. Local organizations that align with CP4P’s mission were present, providing information on essential services and opportunities for residents. From youth development programs to violence prevention initiatives, the event highlighted the collective efforts of those dedicated to fostering a safer, more unified community.

Rafael Agosto, Case Manager and Resource Coordinator for CP4P, shared this about his experience working with St. Clare. “They have always been a strong pillar in the Gage Park community and working alongside Brother Chuck and everyone else has been one of the greatest opportunities we could have. If we have something we want to be able to do for the community, they are right there to see how they can support and be a part of creating safe spaces for families. We can’t thank them enough for envisioning better futures for our communities with us.”

As CP4P and St. Clare of Montefalco mark three years of collaboration, this event stands as a testament to the power of partnership in creating lasting change. Through ongoing programming and unwavering commitment, they continue to illuminate a path toward safety, support, and hope for all.
