CP4P Holiday Gift Giving at Claremont Academy

On December 18, 2024, the Southwest Organizing Project’s (SWOP) Community Violence Intervention team, Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P), brought holiday magic to Claremont Academy, a valued member institution. The team arrived with bags brimming with gifts and a shared mission to spread joy among the students. Transforming the school into a festive hub, they set up tables with games, toys, and other treasures. As students arrived, their eyes lit up with excitement, cheering the moment they entered the room.

The event was more than just a gift giveaway—it was a heartfelt effort to connect with the young community, showing them that they are valued and supported. The CP4P team created a warm, inclusive atmosphere that emphasized joy and belonging during the holiday season. For many of the students, the experience was not only about the tangible gifts but also the intangible feeling of being seen and celebrated. By fostering these positive connections, CP4P and SWOP reinforced their commitment to community-building and supporting the well-being of Claremont Academy’s students.

Keana Lindo, Case Manager for CP4P, shared this when asked about what brought this on. "Every year we donate gifts throughout the holiday season. Whether it is at one of Light in the Night events or coming directly to the school. The holidays can be stressful for a lot of families and there are some people who may not be able to give their kids anything. Having to choose between something under the tree and a meal is a very real struggle for some families, so it really puts a smile on our face to be able to put a smile on the face of these kids."
