CP4P’s Resource and Job Fair

On November 21, 2024, the Southwest Organizing Project's (SWOP) Community Violence Intervention team, Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P), hosted a dynamic Resource and Job Fair at their office. The event brought together community members eager to find employment opportunities and connect with prospective employers. Participants were encouraged to bring their resumes and cover letters, ready to seize the chance to secure a job on the spot. From 10am to 2pm, the office buzzed with determined individuals from the neighborhood exploring career paths and engaging with hiring representatives.

The job fair featured a diverse range of employers, including Southwest Airlines, Walgreens, Giordano's, UPS, and CINTAS, among many others, each offering immediate openings across various industries. Attendees expressed gratitude for the chance to connect with such reputable companies without the barriers often encountered in traditional job searches. By the end of the day, many walked away with job offers, new connections, and a sense of empowerment. This event underscored CP4P and SWOP’s commitment to fostering opportunities that promote economic stability and growth for the community.

One community member had this to say when asked about how she felt about the job fair. “It’s really cool when events like this pop up within walking distance. It can be a real struggle just trying to find opportunities like these in your own community, so I’m happy to see more of these.” Despite the flurry of snow, community members were in high spirits to be able to look for employment opportunities and resources.
