Honoring Women with Light and Love: CP4P’s Women’s Appreciation Light in the Night

On March 29th, 2025, the Southwest Organizing Project’s (SWOP) Community Violence Intervention team, Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P), hosted a radiant celebration in honor of Women's History Month: The Women’s Appreciation Light in the Night event. Held with the mission of empowerment and community healing, this special gathering was designed to uplift and honor the women who are so often the backbone of their families, neighborhoods, and movements. With music and empowering sense of community filling the space, the evening became a beautiful reminder of the power and resilience of women in the community.

Guests were welcomed with free food and good vibes, setting the tone for a day of connection and celebration. Attendees also had the chance to unwind and express their creativity at a vibrant Paint & Sip station—mocktails included! The atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy as women painted, shared stories, and toasted to each other’s strength.

In addition to the festivities, SWOP created spaces for rest and restoration. A dedicated self-care station invited guests to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with themselves. There were even free manicures, giving women a moment of pampering in the midst of their often busy and demanding lives.

More than just a party, this Light in the Night was a love letter to women—an intentional act of appreciation from the CP4P team to the women who lead, love, protect, and heal. It was a space where they could be celebrated not just for what they do, but for who they are.

SWOP’s CP4P team continues to show that community safety and healing is about more than stopping violence—it’s about building joy, recognizing worth, and making space for everyone to shine.
