The Southwest Organizing Project's (SWOP) Parent Mentor Program is actively working to recruit new Parent Mentors as the summer comes to a close. Organizers and Coordinators are reaching out in the community, attending back-to-school events at Marquette , McKay, Durkin and more schools to engage with parents who are eager to contribute to their children's education. Through these efforts, they are bringing in a new cohort of passionate individuals who are committed to making a difference in local schools. The new recruits are going through intensive training sessions, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively support both teachers and students in the upcoming school year.
As the end of summer approaches, the excitement among the Parent Mentors is palpable. They are eagerly anticipating their return to SWOP's member institution schools, where they will play a vital role in creating a supportive and productive learning environment. Their involvement is crucial in bridging the gap between home and school, ensuring that students receive the encouragement and assistance they need to succeed. The Parent Mentors are ready to jump back into the classrooms, ready to help teachers manage their workloads and provide personalized support to students, making a positive impact on the entire school community.
